Healthier Tortilla Chips

My wife makes some great homemade tortilla chips that can be healthier [and tastier] than the store bought ones. They are incredibly easy to make, so I thought I would share the recipe.

She takes a flour tortilla and places it on a cookie sheet. Then, she cuts it into eight slices [with a pizza cutter]. Next, she sprays them with cooking spray and sprinkles on a little kosher salt. Finally she bakes them at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Let them cool down a bit and enjoy with some fresh salsa.

The time and temperature really depend upon your taste. We like ours crisp on the outside with just a bit of chewiness on the inside. Be sure to watch them carefully the first time you make them, they can go from just right to burnt in a matter of seconds.

We also plan on trying to make some tortilla bowls for our taco salads, but we are not quite sure how that will work out yet. Stay tuned.
